A REPEATABLE WPM CHECK

Why take a 60-second typing test?

One minute is long enough to move beyond the first few words while remaining easy to repeat.
Use the same settings when you want a meaningful comparison over time.

BEFORE

Settle into accuracy

Place your hands comfortably, focus the text field, and begin at a pace you can control. The clock starts on your first keystroke.

DURING

Keep a natural rhythm

Correct mistakes calmly. YesTyping keeps incorrect keystrokes in the accuracy calculation even after you use backspace.

AFTER

Read the whole result

Review accuracy, raw speed, consistency, and missed words alongside WPM. Then target one recurring interruption.

One-minute test questions

How is one-minute WPM calculated?

Correct characters are divided by five, then divided by elapsed minutes. In a completed 60-second test, 250 correct characters equal 50 WPM.

Can I add punctuation and numbers?

Yes. Use the controls above the test, or open the one-minute symbols and numbers preset.

Should I repeat the same test immediately?

You can repeat for a warm-up, but several sessions across different days provide a more useful picture than one unusually strong or weak attempt.

Where can I check the formula?

Read the complete scoring methodology or use the WPM calculator with your own totals.
