Choose a typing test duration

Try a 30-second warm-up, the one-minute WPM test, or a two-minute typing test for a longer session. These presets use the same scoring engine; keep duration and text settings consistent when comparing results.

Which typing tool should you use?

Use the one-minute test for a repeatable baseline. Choose a fixed word test when you prefer to finish a known amount of text instead of watching a timer. Use paragraph mode to practice realistic capitalization and punctuation, or the mixed-character preset when symbols interrupt your everyday work.

The calculator is useful when you already know your keystroke and time totals. For automatic character analysis, take a live test instead. Read the YesTyping scoring methodology for the exact definitions used across the site.

Want a faster, game-shaped warm-up? Play Prism Pulse Run and clear incoming words before they cross the pulse line.

Typing practice languages

Select a language to open its original practice paragraph. Install or select the matching keyboard or input method on your device first. Browser language preferences only order the chooser; English remains the first selected practice language until you choose another. This changes the practice text, not the English interface.

Compare progress within the same language and input method. Scripts with combining marks or composed input are not directly comparable with English keyboard scores. See the language scoring limitations.
